The latest version of the Apple Mac operating system known as Snow Leopard, which is available only in DVS and not for download was due to be released on September but Apple preponed it to August 28, Friday. Microsoft’s latest operating system Windows 7 is due to be released this October and also a new operating system from Google named the Chrome OS will be released in the late 2010. Chrome OS will be an entirely new OS while Windows 7 and Snow Leopard are upgrades of the current versions. The Snow Leopard OS which is an upgrade of the current version called Leopard will be priced at £25 in the UK and $29 in the US. Users who are using the older version of Mac called Tiger OS were asked to purchase the update at the cost of £129 in the UK and $169 in the US. Along with the Snow Leopard OS, various other softwares such as iWork, Quick time player and it takes much less space than its previous version and the applications also load faster. Currently Apple is installed only in 3% of the personal computers while Microsoft holds 95% of the users with its Windows OS.
