Owen moves to Manchester United

Michael Owen, the former European footballer of the year has decided to play for the Manchester United. The champions, Manchester United confirmed this news on Friday, July 03, 2009. Michael Owen is a international class forward with a recognized goal scoring record at the premier level and that has never been doubted. The manager of the team Alex Ferguson said Michael will relish the expectations they have on him on his arrival to the Manchester United team. The ex-Liverpool striker has been out of form and fitness in four years at Newcastle, scoring just 30 goals, and has been constantly ignored by England manager Fabio Capello. Owen stands seventh on the list of all-time top scorers in the Premier League with 144 and had been associated by British media with a move to Hull City last week but will as an alternative replace Argentina forward Carlos Tevez who left United last month. Owen will be combined with striker Wayne Rooney whom he successfully paired in attack for England before injuries condensed his international career. Owen said that he is now looking forward to be a Manchester United player and that he is fortunate that he already know most of the players there.
